A ceasefire has been agreed between Iran and the US for the next two weeks. This has temporarily halted the war that has been going on for almost 5 weeks. However, Iran's Supreme National Security Council has said that the war will not end permanently until an agreement is reached on a 10-point plan. US President Donald Trump has also said that the ceasefire is now based on the same plan. But he has warned that a bigger attack will be launched if Iran does not come to an agreement. According to Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency, the 10-point plan to form the basis of the ceasefire is as follows:
1. US commitment not to take further aggressive actions against Iran.
2. Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz is maintained.
3. Iran's right to develop nuclear energy is ensured.
4. All basic sanctions are lifted.
5. All subsidiary sanctions are lifted.
6. All resolutions against Iran in the UN Security Council are rejected.
7. All resolutions made by the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors against Iran are rejected.
8. Payment of compensation to Iran for war losses.
9. Withdrawal of US troops from the West Asia region.
10. Cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
