Israel has launched a devastating attack on Lebanon. At least 254 people were killed in its airstrikes on Beirut and other areas on Wednesday, Al Jazeera reported. More than 1,100 were injured. The death toll is expected to rise. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps condemned the attack and warned Israel it would "regret it". In protest, Iran has blocked oil tankers from leaving the Strait of Hormuz. The semi-official Fars News Agency announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier on Wednesday morning, Iran had agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz and declare a 14-day ceasefire. As agreed, two oil tankers crossed the strait with permission from the Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday, Fars News reported. The Revolutionary Guards said their soldiers had their fingers on the trigger even though they had declared a temporary ceasefire. Both Iran and the US considered the ceasefire a victory. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had claimed that the issue of Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire. US President Donald Trump supported his claim and said that there was no ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon. He made this comment in an interview with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). On Wednesday morning, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that there would be a ceasefire in all regions of West Asia, including Iran. After Israel launched the attack, there is a risk of war breaking out again in West Asia.
