Iran has executed two men accused of ‘collaborating with Israel and the US’.

According to the Iranian judiciary’s ‘Mizan Online’ website, Mohammad-Amin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast, who participated in the January 2026 protests, were sentenced to death on charges of espionage.

The executions were carried out after the Supreme Court reaffirmed its ruling.

The protests were initially due to economic dissatisfaction. But they quickly turned into nationwide protests.

The protests reached their peak on January 8 and 9. Iranian authorities claim that the protests initially  started peacefully but turned into a violent uprising instigated by foreign forces. There were killings and vandalism during the protests.

Iran has executed several people close to the protests or opposition groups in recent days. Including members of the banned People’s Mujahideen (MEK).

Shortly after Iran took control of the movement within the country, Israel and  the United States launched a joint attack.

On February 28, on the first day of the war, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed. Despite the deaths of a large number of political and military officials, Iran continues to fight the United States and Israel.
