US President Donald Trump has claimed that the US will strike Iran very hard in the next 2-3 weeks.
He said that Iran's energy centers may also be attacked in the process. He said this in an address to the nation on Wednesday morning.
'We will continue to attack until our objectives are fully achieved. But it will not be long. Because America is going to achieve all its goals very soon,' Trump said.
'We will hit them very hard in the next two to three weeks. We will take them back to the Stone Age where they belong,' he added.
He said that change in Iran was never America's goal. 'But with the death of their main leader, there has been a regime change there,' Trump said.
He has portrayed the war as an attempt to secure a better and safer future for America.
'This is a true investment in the future of your children and grandchildren,' Trump said, 'The whole world is watching, and they cannot give up such power and talent. They can't believe what they're seeing.'
He reiterated that war was necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Even if the US were to launch a unilateral war, he said other countries should also try to open the Strait of Hormuz.
'Be brave,' he told countries importing oil from West Asia, 'go to the Strait and bring back the oil.'
