The US has upgraded Nepal to Level 2 on its travel advisory. This means that 'protests may occur during travel, so exercise caution.' Earlier, Nepal was placed at Level 3 on September 11, following the Gen-G protests. This means that 'consider your travel plans'. Level 4 recommends against travel. Level 1 means normal conditions. Where caution is sufficient.

'The nationwide protests that began in September 2025 have ended. The security situation is stable. However, demonstrations, especially in cities, may be locally unstable,' the US State Department's travel advisory states. 'Protests can begin with little warning and can quickly escalate. Avoid large crowds and follow the instructions of local authorities.'

The advisory states that hospitals in Kathmandu are much better than elsewhere. However, since the Nepal government does not cover the medical expenses of foreigners, it is requested to take out travel health insurance and bring essential medicines.

The guidelines also mention the need to go to another country for treatment in case of a serious condition.

Since Nepal is prone to natural disasters, especially floods and landslides from June to September, it is also requested to plan a trip only after taking weather information into account.
