At least nine migrants have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Thursday that 45 people were missing in the incident.

The boat carrying 320 migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti on the night of March 24, the IOM said on social media.

The IOM said it was working with local authorities to search and rescue the missing people.

The latest tragedy  is one of several reported fatalities off Djibouti's Red Sea coast. Many migrants make the perilous journey by boat, hoping to reach the Middle East via conflict-torn Yemen.
