US President Donald Trump has threatened to destroy Iran's energy infrastructure. On the 23rd day of the war, he said, "If Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within the next 48 hours, we will destroy its various energy infrastructure," he wrote on the social network Truth Social. Israel launched a major attack on Tehran on Sunday. Explosions were heard in the eastern part of the city.
The Iranian military has warned that all energy infrastructure related to the US and Israel in West Asia will be destroyed if its energy centers are attacked.
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization said that the attack on the nuclear center in Natanz by the US and Israel on Saturday night did not cause major damage. The energy organization said that there was no radiation leak from the attack.
Earlier, Iran had launched a major attack on the Israeli cities of Arad and Dimona on Saturday night.
These cities are near Israel's nuclear center. Iran claims to have injured nearly 200 people in a missile attack targeting a military base. Israel says 100 were injured and no one was killed.
Israeli defenses failed to intercept the projectiles. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Saturday night a “very difficult night” for his country.
“Tonight is a very difficult night in this campaign for our future,” he wrote on social media on Saturday. “I have instructed my director general to coordinate with all government ministries to provide all necessary assistance.”
Since the war began on February 28, Iran has fired more than 400 ballistic missiles at Israel, and 92 percent of them have been intercepted, Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said. “Our interception rate is about 92 percent. This is a high success rate,” he said.
Iranian President Masoud Pezizkian has urged the BRICS alliance to play an independent role in preventing attacks on Iran. India currently chairs the BRICS. He has also proposed creating a regional security framework among West Asian countries.
Iran's Health Ministry has said that more than 1,500 Iranians have been killed in the Israeli-American attacks so far. It has also reported that more than 20,000 have been injured, 7 hospitals and 36 ambulances have been damaged.
Saudi Arabia has said that Iran is continuously carrying out drone attacks on its country. Saudi Arabia has said that about 60 drones were fired from Iran on Saturday night.
Saudi officials have also said that three ballistic missiles were fired towards Riyadh province. Saudi Arabia has said that one of the missiles was intercepted and the other two fell in uninhabited areas.
Saudi Arabia has ordered all Iranian diplomatic and military personnel to leave the country within 24 hours. Earlier, Qatar had made a similar announcement last Wednesday. Iran has fired missiles at a US military base in Bahrain.
The UAE, Bahrain, Britain, France and Germany have issued a joint statement condemning Iran's attacks on commercial vessels and public infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement said Iran must immediately cease its threats, bombings and drone and missile attacks in the Strait. Britain has accused Iran of launching ballistic missiles at a joint US-UK military base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia.
The area is about 4,000 kilometers from Iran. Britain had allowed the US to use the military base for defensive purposes in its war against Iran.
A senior Iranian official has claimed that Iran was not involved in the attack on Diego Garcia.
