The names of the American soldiers who died in a plane crash in Iraq have been released. The Pentagon released the names of the soldiers on Saturday.
Major John Alex Klinkner, 33, Captain Arianna Savino, 31, Technical Sergeant Ashley Pruitt, 34, Captain Koval, 38, Captain Kurtis Angist, 30, and Technical Sergeant Tyler Simmons, 28, were killed, the Pentagon said.
Klinkner was promoted to major just a week ago, his family said.
The KC-135 Stratotanker crashed last Thursday. The Pentagon has been saying that the plane went down accidentally, not under attack.
According to US Central Command, the situation arose when two planes came face to face in airspace over western Iran. The other plane managed to land safely in Israel.
