China has taken the initiative to end the Iran war through diplomatic efforts. China has been holding talks with relevant countries at a time when the war has caused a terrible situation in West Asia.  China has been holding talks with Russia, Oman, Iran, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Pakistan in the last 10 days, according to the China Daily. ‘Talks have been held with the parties to the conflict, neighboring Gulf countries or major powers,’ the news said.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun said that China has called for a ceasefire and a return to dialogue to find a political solution. He gave this information at a regular press conference on Wednesday.

Guo said that as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a friend of West Asian countries, China will continue to strive for peace. He said that no influence will be spared in speaking up for justice and fairness and strengthening dialogue.

Zhai Jun, the Chinese government's special envoy for West Asia, is in the Middle East for talks. Last Sunday, he met with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaibi and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in the Saudi capital Riyadh. On Tuesday, Zhai met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.

Speaking in Beijing on Sunday, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that no one would benefit from the conflict. "Armed conflict only breeds hatred and new crises. The history of West Asia shows that no solution comes from war," he said.
