Saudi Arabia's air defense system said it intercepted and destroyed a drone and two cruise missiles targeting the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the Eastern Province on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by Saudi Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki, the air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a drone flying in the Eastern Province and two cruise missiles over the Al-Kharj region.

A separate statement from the Energy Ministry confirmed that the drone attack was targeting the Ras Tanura refinery. However, it was reported that there was no physical damage from the incident and that the oil supply system was not affected.

Ras Tanura is considered one of Saudi Arabia's largest oil refining and export centers.
