France has deployed Rafale fighter jets to protect its military bases in the skies of the UAE.
Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced the deployment on Tuesday. "They will conduct operations to protect our bases," Barrot said. The Dafra base near Abu Dhabi is home to a large number of French naval, air and ground forces. Rafale jets are already stationed there. And France has deployed the planes to protect its military infrastructure as the conflict in the Middle East rapidly escalates. France has been critical of the US-Israeli attack on Iran. President Emmanuel Macron has called the attack "illegal" and said it was "a violation of international law." "This is a violation of international law. That is why we cannot accept it," Macron said.
