Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that US President Donald Trump could start World War III.
In an interview with the Russian news agency Tass on Monday, he accused Trump of waging a criminal regime change campaign.
Medvedev, now deputy head of Russia's Security Council, was asked if World War III had begun. "Technically, no / but if Trump continues his crazy path of criminal regime change, it will start without warning. And any event can be a trigger," he said.
The attack on Iran, he said, was just part of a wider war waged by the US and its allies to maintain global dominance.
According to Medvedev, Trump has put all Americans at risk by assassinating Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. "He has made a serious mistake," Medvedev said.
He also said Iran would accelerate its nuclear weapons development program. He said the cost of the current damage was high, but Iran would succeed.
He said there was no risk of a US attack on Russia. 'America fears Russia and knows the cost of nuclear conflict,' he said.
