The embassy said that a small fire had been caused by the attack on the X and that the building had been slightly damaged. The US mission in Saudi Arabia has advised residents in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran to stay home.
Earlier, smoke was seen in the area of the US embassy in Kuwait on Monday. The embassy then urged people not to come to the embassy and to stay safe in their homes.
