The government has built a new housing area in the capital Pyongyang for the families of North Korean soldiers killed while assisting the Russian military.

Leader Kim Jong-un has built a residential area to honor those killed in the war.

North Korea has been providing military assistance to Russia in its war against Ukraine. The North Korean government is building memorial walls and museums in memory of its soldiers who died in those wars.  In recent months, Kim has sent thousands of troops and large amounts of military equipment to Russia. This includes missiles. Last week, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) claimed that 6,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed in the Russia-Ukraine war so far. However, it did not provide the number of those who participated in the war.

During a closed-door briefing to lawmakers last week, the NIS said, "North Korea is gaining experience in modern warfare by participating in the North. Similarly, it is also receiving technical assistance from Russia. This may improve their weapons systems."

North Korea is holding a meeting of the ruling Workers' Party later this month. Supreme Leader Kim is expected to make public his policies, programs, and national goals at the meeting, which will be held after five years.
