Nuclear talks between Iran and the United States are set to take place in Oman this week.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will take place in Oman on Friday, Al Jazeera reported.

Araghchi announced on social media on Wednesday night that the talks will take place in the Omani capital Muscat on Friday.

“I am grateful to our Omani brothers for making all the necessary arrangements,” he wrote. Earlier, there were reports that the meeting was uncertain due to disagreements over the venue and format of the talks.

The talks were initially scheduled to take place in Turkey. However, now the United States is ready to participate in high-level talks with Iran in Oman.

Earlier, officials from the two countries had discussed the nuclear deal in Oman. However, it was disrupted after Israel launched an attack on Iran.

Qatar, Turkey and Egypt in the Middle East have presented a framework for the main issues to be discussed in the talks. Among them is Iran’s commitment to significantly limit uranium enrichment.

It also includes a ban on the use of ballistic missiles and restrictions on arms supplies to Iran's regional allies.

The United States has long insisted that Iran should back down from developing nuclear weapons. The United States has recently deployed an aircraft carrier carrying weapons for war in the sea near Iran in response to Iran's crackdown on anti-government protests.

This has raised concerns around the world that the two countries are at risk of war. The United States and Iran have not had formal diplomatic relations since 1980.
