US President Donald Trump has vowed to expand America's borders to include Canada, Greenland and Venezuela, speaking to a dinner party of CEOs, politicians and celebrities at the Alfalfa Club on Saturday.
The Washington Post quoted eyewitnesses as saying Trump had discussed his plans to take over Canada and Venezuela, and later called it a joke.
“We’re not going to take over Greenland. We’re going to buy it. My intention is never to make Greenland the 51st state. I want Canada to be the 51st, Greenland the 52nd. Venezuela could be the 53rd,” Trump said in his brief remarks. This was Trump’s first speech at the Alfalfa Club.

After the dinner, Trump flew to his resort in Miami on his private jet, Air Force One. He spoke briefly with reporters on the flight. He said that serious talks were underway about Iran.
Trump has been saying that Greenland is important to the US security and that it will be annexed to the US anyway.
