At least 28 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza on Saturday, the local administration in Gaza said.
The Hamas-run Civil Defense Agency said the dead included women and children. The agency said the helicopters attacked a camp for displaced people south of Khan Yunis.
The Israeli military said on Friday that the attack came after Hamas violated a peace agreement. The conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023. When Hamas attacked Israel at that time, 1,200 people were killed and 251 were kidnapped and held hostage.
According to the Hamas-run Health Department, more than 71,000 people have been killed in the military operation carried out by Israel since then.
