Iran has said it is ready for "fair and equal" talks with the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed that there should be no atmosphere of threats for talks. “Iran has no problem with talks,” he told reporters in Turkey on Friday, “but talks cannot be held under the shadow of threats.”
According to Al Jazeera , Araghchi insisted that Iran’s missile capabilities and missiles cannot be a subject of negotiations. “I want to say clearly that Iran’s missile capabilities and Iran’s missiles will not be a subject of any negotiations.”
Tensions between Tehran and Washington have been rising recently. Trump has repeatedly threatened to attack Iran over its crackdown on anti-government protests in Iran. And, he has also demanded that Iran stop its nuclear program.
Iran has consistently rejected this. This week, the US President sent the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln to Iran after Iran refused to budge.
Concerns are being expressed around the world, saying that as tensions rise, there is a risk of war.
