“This storm is spreading across many parts of the country,” said NWS meteorologist Allison Santorelli .
US President Donald Trump has declared the storm 'Historic' and approved a federal emergency declaration on Saturday. About 20 states and the District of Columbia have declared weather emergencies.
'We will be in constant contact with all states in the path of this storm. Stay safe and warm,' Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Officials said the storm could affect life for up to a week. They warned it would be very cold.
