A Japanese court has sentenced former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's killer, Tetsuya Yamagami, 45, to life in prison for shooting and killing him three years ago.
Prosecutors called the killing "an unprecedented event in post-war Japanese history" and said it had a "very serious impact on society."
That's why they demanded a life sentence for Yamagami. Yamagami's lawyer argued that a sentence of more than 20 years should not be imposed.
