Qatar has stated that the security of its citizens and residents is a top priority. Four hundred thousand Nepalis are working in Qatar.
Iran has warned that it will attack US military bases in the Middle East and Israel if the US attacks it. Qatar issued a statement on Wednesday after media reports that some employees had been withdrawn from the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The US base camp is located not far from Sana'a, where migrant workers, including Nepalese, are being held. Iran also targeted the Al-Udeid Air Base during heightened tensions with Israel.
According to a statement issued by the Qatari government's International Media Office, the measures were taken as a necessary security measure in light of the current regional tensions. They also include work related to the protection of important infrastructure and military structures.
Qatar has clarified that the current situation is part of general security management and that any further developments will be communicated through official channels.
