What you should know

Anti-government protests have been ongoing in Iran for 12 consecutive days. Demonstrations are taking place in the capital Tehran and several other cities in the country.

According to the American Human Rights Activist News Agency, 34 protesters and four security personnel have been killed. In addition, more than 2,000 protesters have been arrested.

According to a monitoring group, the internet has been shut down in the country due to these protests. According to the news agency Reuters, internet monitoring group Grasp Netblocks, a digital blackout occurred in Tehran and other parts of Iran during the nationwide protests on Thursday.

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran's late king, has called for the protests to continue until 8 pm local time on Thursday.

On the social network X, he wrote, "Tonight, millions of Iranians stood up for their freedom. The Iranian government's response has been to completely shut down communication channels. The government has shut down the internet and disabled landline phones. And now there may be an attempt to block satellite signals."

He praised US President Donald Trump. He praised Trump for trying to hold the Iranian government accountable as the leader of the free world.

He added, “The time has come. Other leaders, including European leaders, must follow Trump’s path. They must break their silence and speak out against the atrocities being committed in Iran. The dictatorial government must be taken action in support of the Iranian people.”

The movement that began against inflation is now moving towards freedom and regime change. In Iran, where Sharia law exists, those who are not sincere to Islam and break Sharia law are being brutally punished. For this reason, women have been starting a movement for freedom for a few years now.
