Kathmandu. The Foreign Press Association (FPA) has criticized the Israeli government for not allowing international media access to the Gaza Strip freely, despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

In a statement on Tuesday, the FPA expressed its displeasure over the Israeli government's move. Israel had told the Supreme Court two days ago that it should maintain the media ban in Gaza, citing security reasons. Israel has prevented foreign journalists from freely entering Gaza since the war began in October 2023. Israel responded to a petition filed by the FPA for media access to Gaza. The FPA has pledged to submit a strong response to Israel's claim in court. The FPA said in a statement, "Instead of creating an environment where we can work freely with our courageous Palestinian colleagues, the government has once again decided to block our entry into Gaza. This is regrettable, even in a ceasefire. '   The Israeli government, however, claims that it took this decision based on the advice of its defense mechanism. The government argues that allowing journalists access could hinder the search for the remains of the remaining Israeli hostages.
