Greta Thunberg, who demonstrated in support of Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, has been arrested in London.
The BBC reported that Thunberg, 22, was arrested by police while demonstrating on Fenchurch Street.
Thunberg was arrested under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 after she spoke out in support of the banned group Palestine Action and was released on bail, British police said. Thunberg is seen participating in the demonstration with a placard in a video shared on social media by the Prisoners for Palestine Protest group.
‘I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I am against ethnic cleansing,’ the placard she was carrying reads.
The prisoners associated with Palestine Action have been on hunger strike for a long time, demanding that countries, including the UK, intervene to end the atrocities committed by Israel in Palestine.
They have put forward five cases.
Immediate repatriation, fair trial, end to the media ban, de-listing of Palestine Action from the terrorist group list, and end to the Elbit system between Israeli arms manufacturers and many British companies.
