Discussions underway on maintaining peace in Gaza

The United States is set to hold talks with representatives from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey on maintaining peace in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza on Friday night, in an effort to move the Gaza ceasefire into a second phase.

Despite an agreement between Hamas and Israel to end the war in Gaza, Israel has been continuously violating it.

The US is set to host talks in Miami, Florida, led by its Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatti will participate in the talks.

A ceasefire agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas on October 10 under US mediation. Despite US claims that the ceasefire is in place, Israel has continued its attacks on Gaza.
