Israel claims to have killed a senior Hamas commander in Gaza. Israel claims to have killed senior Hamas commander Raed Saeed in an attack in southern Gaza. However, Hamas has not yet confirmed this.

According to Hamas, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian vehicle near the Nabulsi junction in Gaza City, killing five people and wounding 25 others. Hamas has accused Israel of continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement.

According to the Israeli Forces (IDF), Saeed was in Gaza City after receiving intelligence that the Israelis were in the area. The army said that Israel took advantage of this opportunity to kill Saeed on the spot.

The Israeli army said that it retaliated after the attack against the Israeli army. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also ordered Saeed to be killed.

A ceasefire was signed between Israel and Hamas in October 2025. Hamas alleges that Israel has continued to attack Gaza even after the ceasefire agreement. According to Hamas, Israel has attacked Gaza more than 800 times since the ceasefire agreement. More than 380 of them have been killed.

Who is Saeed?

According to the AFP news agency, Raed Saeed is one of the senior commanders of the Al-Qassam Brigades. He is one of the planners of the attack on Israel in October 2023.

In addition, he was also playing an important role in the network that supplies weapons to Hamas. Saeed, who leads Hamas's Gaza battalion, is active in plans to strengthen Hamas again by taking advantage of the ceasefire, according to international media.

According to Israel, Saeed is one of the main producers and suppliers of weapons for Hamas. According to Hamas, Saeed's position was number two in Hamas's armed wing. This wing is commanded by Izz al-Din al-Haddad.
