Cambodia has announced the closure of all its border crossings with Thailand.
On Saturday morning, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the two countries. However, the fighting between the two countries continues. Cambodia's Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the border will remain closed until further notice. Earlier, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had told Trump that a ceasefire would only be possible after Cambodia withdraws all its troops from the battlefield. The US is mediating to end the war between the two countries. Thai officials said on Saturday that four soldiers were killed and that both sides had fired bombs and gunfire. With this, the number of soldiers killed since Monday has reached 15. 270 people have been injured. Cambodia's Ministry of Defense has claimed that Thai fighter jets entered its territory and bombed hotels and bridges. However, the names of the soldiers killed in the war have not been made public. Meanwhile, Thailand said some civilians were injured in a Cambodian rocket attack. The war has displaced at least 700,000 people from the border area. The border dispute between the two countries has a long history. The last time the war started was on July 24 when Cambodia fired a rocket at Thailand. In response, Thailand launched an airstrike. Both countries have accused each other of starting the attack. After a large number of people were killed in the war, a ceasefire was brokered by the US and Malaysia in October. But neither side has respected it.
