Earlier, police arrested a man shortly after the incident. But he was released after he was found not to be involved in the incident.

There were 389 mass shootings in the United States in 2025. This was shown by research from the Gun Violence Archive (GVA).
It defines a mass shooting as a situation in which four or more people were injured or killed. Including the two people killed at Brown University, the data shows that 346 people have been killed in shootings this year.
This investigation also showed that more than 1,800 people were injured.
