At least 40 people have died in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Sri Lanka, with road and rail services disrupted in some parts of the country, government officials said.

According to the Disaster Management Center, 25 people have died in the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya areas. This area is located 300 kilometers east of Colombo. The Disaster Management Center also reported that 21 people are missing and 10 people are injured in landslides in the same area.
