Ukraine has said that a "common understanding" has been reached between Ukraine and the United States on a proposal put forward by the United States aimed at ending the war with Russia. The United States presented a 28-point proposal in Kiev last week. A few days ago, Ukraine and the European Union countries met in Geneva and made the necessary amendments to it.
US President Donald Trump has announced on social media that the plan has been further revised by both Ukraine and the US . He said that a US representative will go to Russia to reach an agreement on the same proposal .
He wrote, ‘I am instructing my special envoy Steve Watkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow . At the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainians .’
President Zelensky’s chief adviser, Andriy Yermak, said he would meet with Driscoll in Kyiv this week .
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that although Russia had agreed to the initial 28-point proposal made public by Trump, the next decision would be made based on the amendments made in Geneva .
‘As of Tuesday morning, Russia had not received the new plan document,’ he said. He also accused Europe of ignoring US peace efforts.
US officials have not commented publicly on Russian concerns. However, Driscoll and Russian representatives held talks in Abu Dhabi on Monday and Tuesday.
