Bolsonaro has been claiming that all of this was a conspiracy to prevent him from running in the 2026 presidential election.

Brazil's Supreme Court has ordered former President Jair Bolsonaro to immediately begin serving his prison sentence. He was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison in September for plotting a coup after losing the 2022 election.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes ordered the immediate jailing of Bolsonaro on Tuesday, as the ruling could not be further reviewed. The 70-year-old Bolsonaro was found guilty of plotting a coup to stay in power after losing the 2022 election to leftist candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
He will begin his sentence at the federal police prison in the capital, Brasilia. He had previously been under house arrest for fear he could flee. But he has been in police custody since Saturday after being deemed a flight risk.
Judge Moraes also ordered Bolsonaro to receive full-time medical care. Bolsonaro's team said his health was poor.
Supreme Court judges ruled in September that Bolsonaro had attempted a coup and planned to use his power to assassinate then-presidential candidate Lula and vice-presidential candidate Geraldo Alcmene.
Similarly, it was mentioned that a plan was made to arrest and execute Morés, who was handling Bolsonaro's case. However, Bolsonaro's plan failed when the army and air force commanders did not support it. On January 1, 2023, Lula was sworn in as the new president.
Eight days later, thousands of Bolsonaro's supporters set fire to government buildings in Brasilia. When security personnel intervened, 1,500 people were arrested.
The court ruling states that Bolsonaro himself incited this mob. Bolsonaro has also been sentenced to a prison term of not being able to hold public office until 2060.
Bolsonaro has been claiming that all this was done to prevent him from contesting the 2026 presidential election. Former Security Minister General Augusto Heleno and former Defense Minister General Paulo Sergio, who helped Bolsonaro carry out the coup, have been sentenced to prison. They were also ordered to begin their imprisonment immediately on Tuesday.
