Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the conditions set by the United States to end the war with Russia will cause Ukraine to lose its dignity.
Addressing the nation on Friday, Zelensky said, “Ukraine may have to make a very difficult decision. Either we may lose our dignity or we may have to part with an important partner, the United States.”
He had earlier said, “We are in one of the most difficult situations in our history.” Zelensky made the comments after the US peace plan framework to end the war between Russia and Ukraine was released. The peace plan had been leaked to the media.
It contains conditions that Ukraine has been rejecting. The 28-point peace plan includes conditions such as withdrawing from the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, reducing its troops and guaranteeing that it will never join NATO. Russia has been attacking Ukraine since 2022. Currently, Russia occupies 20 percent of Ukraine.
