The United Nations Security Council has voted in favor of a resolution related to US President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza plan. The plan includes a provision for the formation of an International Stabilization Force (ISF).
According to the US, several countries have pledged support for this force. 13 countries, including Britain, France and Somalia, voted in favor of the resolution. No country voted against the resolution. Russia and China did not participate in the vote.
A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the passage of this resolution is an “important step towards strengthening the ceasefire.” Meanwhile, Hamas has rejected the resolution. Hamas has rejected the resolution, saying that this plan does not fulfill the rights of the Palestinians.
After the resolution was passed, Hamas wrote on Telegram, “This plan is to impose an international guardianship system on the Gaza Strip. Which our people do not accept.” Hamas has previously said, “When an international force is given tasks and roles inside the Gaza Strip, it is also to disarm the resistance. It ends impartiality.”
According to the resolution, the ISF will work together with Israel and Egypt. The force will also work with the Palestinian police to secure the border areas and help permanently disarm other armed groups, including Hamas.
