At least eight people were killed in a bomb blast at gates 1 and 4 of New Delhi's Red Fort Metro station on Monday night.
The cause of the explosion has not been revealed yet. Twelve people were injured in the explosion.
The explosion took place in a car near the Red Fort. Other vehicles nearby were also damaged. The Delhi Fire Department said that the blast was reported at 7 pm. Security personnel have cordoned off the area after the incident and started an investigation. A special cell of Delhi Police has been deployed in the area where the explosion took place and the damage has been done.
Eyewitnesses have said that they have never heard such a powerful sound in their lives. 'I heard the sound of the explosion three times. I thought I was not going to survive,' a nearby shopkeeper told the Indian media Hindustan Times.
Another eyewitness said that he saw human body parts on the road immediately after the incident. 'We saw body parts scattered on the road.' "I couldn't think of anything," he told Hindustan Times. "Many cars were also damaged."
India's Central Reserve Police Force DIG Kishore Prasad said he could not comment on the matter right now. "I have just reached the spot. It would be hasty to comment on this right now," he said.
'No news of Nepalis being injured'
Surendra Thapa, deputy chief of mission at the Nepali embassy in Delhi, said that no Nepali nationals were injured in the blast. He said, "We are in regular contact with the Delhi Police. So far, there has been no news of Nepali nationals being injured."
