At least 10 people have been killed in Russian airstrikes in Ukraine, the military said, as the strikes caused extensive damage to Ukraine's gas and electricity infrastructure, leading to power outages in many parts of the country.

Local officials said Russia launched a series of strikes across the country on Friday night. The Ukrainian military said the strikes were carried out by a large number of drones and missiles from the air, land and sea. The Ukrainian Air Force said it had identified 503 airstrikes, including 45 missiles and 458 drones. Nine of the missiles were shot down by the Ukrainian military. It also intercepted 406 drones. Governor Ivan Fyodorov said three people were killed and six were injured in the Zaporizhia region. Private homes were also hit in several districts. At least two people were killed in Donetsk and 11 others, including children, were injured. Kyiv Governor Mykola Kalashnikov said a woman was injured in the Vyshhorod district. Private homes and energy infrastructure were damaged. Local officials said two people were killed and 11 others, including children, were injured in the Dnipro region. Since Donald Trump became president in the United States, he has been trying to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table. However, his mediation has not been successful due to distrust between the two countries.
