Israel launches airstrikes in southern Lebanon

At least one person has been killed and more than nine others injured in Israeli airstrikes in various locations in southern Lebanon, drawing strong condemnation from both the Lebanese government and the armed group Hezbollah after Israel violated last year's ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli military claims that Hezbollah military bases were targeted. It claims that Hezbollah has refused to disarm itself under a ceasefire agreement signed last year.

Israel launched the attack at 3 pm local time on Thursday. The attack lasted for about an hour. “Israel committed crimes today by attacking various locations in violation of international humanitarian law. It committed crimes of spreading terror, targeting and forcibly displacing civilians,” Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said in a statement.
