President Sheinbaum immediately turned around and removed the man’s hand from her shoulder. She calmly, smilingly faced him. Then, government officials arrived and removed the man from the president.
Even then, he tried to approach the president and talk to him.
According to the international news agency Associated Press, the security personnel assigned to protect the president were not present even after that.
After some time, the security personnel who arrived there arrested the man.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media. The issue of harassment and safety of women in public life has started to be discussed again.
