Zohrab Mamdani, the famous young Indian-origin man elected as the mayor of the American city of New York, has chosen a Nepali restaurant to meet his constituency Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).
On Thursday, Mamdani posted a photo of himself chatting while eating a meal of chicken tandoori, milk tea, potatoes, and more on Instagram. “The first day as mayor was a busy one: interviews, announcements, meetings, and more,” he wrote. “But the most important of all was the lunch meeting with our MP AOC at Laliguraan Bistro in Jackson Heights.”
The restaurant, which opened in 2008, is popular among the Nepali community in the Nepali-majority area of Jackson Heights. Both Mamdani and AOC had been posting in Nepali during their election campaigns, targeting the Nepali community in New York.
