Former US Vice President Dick Cheney has died at the age of 84. He was George W. Bush's vice president during both of his terms (2001 to 2009).

Chin was one of the main planners of the Bush administration's 'war on terror' in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. That is why he is also called America's most powerful vice president. 

He died Monday night after complications from pneumonia, cardiac and vascular disease, his family said. 'Dick Chin was a great and good man. He taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, to live with fearlessness, respect, love and compassion,' the family said in a statement. 

He served as White House Chief of Staff under President Gerald Ford from 1975 to 1977. Similarly, he was a member of the US House of Representatives for a decade from 1979 to 1989. He also served as Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1993.
