Due to the events that happened during the Gen-G movement in Nepal on August 23-24 (September 8-9), the American government has asked its citizens not to travel to Nepal.

The Bureau of Consular Affairs, a federal agency of the US government, under the US Department of State, has issued a travel advisory (suggestions for travel), asking Americans not to travel to Nepal unless it is unnecessary or possible. The bureau has issued levels 1, 2, and 3 since the time of the movement.  In

level 1 and 2, the Gen-G movement in Nepal and the events after the movement, along with an appeal to its citizens in Nepal to stay safe, issued a notice to contact the agencies in Nepal related to the US government. In level 3, the bureau has suggested not to travel to Nepal as much as possible.

Due to the spread of civil unrest in Nepal and violent activities during the Gen-G movement on September 8-9, the Bureau of Consular Affairs has mentioned in the travel advisory that Bamran should not travel to Nepal immediately and that those who are traveling should contact American government agencies to stay safe.

"Do not go to demonstrations, clashes and turbulent areas," the Bureau of Consular said for its citizens, "If you are in Kathmandu and Pokhara, the main tourist areas of Nepal during the tour, please stay in a safe place." Level 4 travel advisory has been issued for Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen.

Level 3 travel advisory has been issued for Nepal along with Bangladesh, Burundi, Chad, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Israel, Jerusalem, Mauritania, New Caledonia, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and the West Bank.

America has been issuing four levels of travel advisory for its citizens who are visiting different countries. The bureau advises its citizens not to travel to any country in which the bureau issues a level four advisory. Earlier, apart from the corona period, the bureau had issued a travel advisory about traveling to Nepal on December 28, 2024 and December 18, 2023.
