Israel has claimed that Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaydah was killed in an airstrike in Gaza City.
Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote a post on X and congratulated the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel's security agency Shin Bet for the success of this attack.
However, Hamas has not yet confirmed Ubeida's death. This Palestinian armed group previously said that dozens of civilians were killed and many injured in Israeli air strikes on government structures.
According to local media, at least seven people were killed and 20 others injured in the attack in the densely populated Al-Rimal area of Gaza. which includes children.
Katz has warned that Ubaida and several other criminal partners will be targeted on Sunday. He said that the campaign in Gaza is being intensified.
Ubeida is one of the senior members of Hamas' military wing, having been linked to Hamas since before the deadly attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
