Navarro made this statement the day after the US imposed a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods. Historical bitterness has emerged in the relationship between America and India. In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Navarro said that the Americans will suffer losses due to India's activities.
"American consumers, businesses and workers will lose jobs, factories and income due to high taxes (tariffs) on Indian goods," he said. The road to peace goes through New Delhi to some extent.' When the interviewer asked, "Do you mean Putin's war?", he clearly repeated the phrase "Modi's war," according to the Indian Express.
According to Navarro, India has given no indication of stopping buying Russian oil. Navarro also said that since Modi is a 'great leader', he is at a loss as to why he is doing this. "If India stops buying Russian oil, it will get 25 percent customs tax exemption tomorrow," he said, "Indian refiners sell oil to the rest of the world at a high price in partnership with Russian refiners." Russia uses that money to invest in weapons of war to kill Ukrainians . Another thing, Ukraine is asking for money from America and European countries. So whatever India is doing, the US is losing because of it.'
Indian Ambassador to Delhi, Vinay Kumar, has responded that the energy security of India's 1.4 billion citizens and India's cooperation with Russia, like other countries, has established stability in the global fuel market. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who visited Russia only a short time ago, also said that he was "very shocked" about the American tariffs. "Americans have been telling us that we should keep the world energy market stable by buying oil from Russia," Jaishankar said, "The American decision is unfair, irrational and unjust."
The 50 percent tariff (customs duty) imposed by the American government on Indian imports has been implemented since Wednesday. America accuses India of helping Russia in its war with Ukraine by buying fuel from Russia. India is determined to strengthen the 'swadeshi campaign' and face any pressure.
