At least 10 people were killed and three seriously injured when an autorickshaw and a truck collided in the eastern state of Bihar on Saturday. The accident took place on the Daniawan-Hilsa highway in Patna, the capital of Bihar.
"When a truck hit an autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction, seven people died on the spot, while three others died during treatment at the hospital," said a senior police officer. The police said that the autorickshaw driver and passengers were injured. It is said that three people were taken to the hospital for treatment and their condition is serious. Officials said that among the dead, nine were autorickshaw drivers, including women, and the rest of the injured were those who came in the truck.
It is the initial estimate of the police that the accident may have occurred due to the negligence of the truck driver. The truck driver is absconding after the accident. The police have registered a case and ordered an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. A police team has been mobilized to arrest the truck driver.
