More than 20 people died on Wednesday due to monsoon rains in Pakistan. Where only last week more than 400 people died when the rain washed away the entire village.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Gilgit-Baltistan's  11 people died in northern region and 10 in Karachi due to flood.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain till Saturday and schools are closed in the affected cities .

Amir Haider Laghari, the chief meteorologist of Sindh province, said that the main reason for the flood was poor infrastructure.

Provincial Disaster Officer Muhammad Yunus said that 40 to 50 houses were damaged due to rain in two districts.

Since last Thursday, more than 350 people have died in the Pahadi northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the border with Afghanistan.

Officials and the army have reported that they are searching for dozens of missing people in villages affected by landslides and heavy rains.

Relief camps are being set up and medical aid is being given as well as dry rations. Quoting Army Colonel Irfan Afridi, AFP said.

Meanwhile, officials have warned that monsoon rains will continue till mid-September.

According to officials, around 750 people have died due to rains since the start of this rainy season.

Monsoon floods inundated a third of Pakistan in 2022, resulting in approximately 1,700 deaths.
