The Palestinian armed group Hamas has agreed to a new proposal put forward by mediators for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages.
International media reported that a source from the Palestinian group confirmed the agreement. This proposal put forward by Egypt and Qatar is said to be based on the outline of the proposal given by the US ambassador Steve Whitcock last June.
According to this plan, the first 60-day ceasefire will be implemented. After this, the 50 Israeli hostages held by Hamas will be released in two groups. It is said that 20 of these people are alive.
After that, more ceasefire talks will be carried forward. However, there has been no official opinion on this matter from Israel.
Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that they would be ready for a deal only after the release of all the hostages.
