Israel has now formally announced the occupation of Gaza City. Israel, which had previously warned that the Gaza Strip would be depopulated, announced on Friday that it would occupy the entire Gaza Strip.

Israel's Security Cabinet approved the plan to occupy Gaza on Friday morning. Along with that, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has published a 5-point principle for ending the war.

'The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will make necessary preparations for the capture of Gaza City while providing humanitarian aid to civilians outside the war zone.'

What is Israel's 5-point doctrine?

What does Netanyahu say?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Gaza will be fully occupied. In an interview with Fox News, he said, "We want complete occupation of Gaza." We want to remove Hamas from Gaza to ensure our security . We want to free Gaza from the terror of Hamas.'

Netanyahu has also said he wants to hand over Gaza to an alternative government involving civilians. He further said, 'We want a security zone, we don't want a regime over Gaza . We don't even have an administrative body there.'

Protests are happening in Israel

In a recent poll in Israel, the majority of Israelis said that the government should negotiate with Hamas for the release of the hostages.

Israeli army chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir told Netanyahu that occupying Gaza was 'like falling into a trap'. Reacting further to Gaza, he warned that the lives of 20 hostages and exhausted soldiers would be in danger. According to the Guardian, the IDF plans to evacuate Gaza City by October 7.

How many people are in Gaza?

About 2.1 million people live in Gaza, spread over an area of about 365 square kilometers. Gaza is almost equal to Nepal's Lalitpur (385 square kilometers) district. After Hamas attacked Israeli land on October 7, 2023, Israel has been attacking for almost two years.

Since the start of the war, the population of Palestine has been decreasing. More than 61,000 people have been killed in the Israeli attack in Palestine alone, most of whom are women and children. In the same way, about 1200 people were killed in the attacks of Hamas towards Israel.
