According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 299 people, including 140 children, have died due to floods and landslides in Pakistan since June 26. The NDMA mentioned that 112 men and 57 women died in the flood.

The rains that have started in Pakistan for five weeks have caused havoc across the country . Among the more than 700 injured, there are 239 children, 204 women and 272 men. According to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, 1,676 houses have also been damaged by the monsoon rains. It is mentioned in the data of NDMA that 428 quadrupeds died due to floods.

NDMA has confirmed that it has conducted 223 rescue operations and successfully rescued 2,880 people from flood-affected areas. It is said that the necessary materials have been distributed through relief. Besides, the authorities have supplied life jackets, public health kits, tents and water pumps . 71 camps have been established and medical aid has also been provided.

NDMA has mentioned that many areas have been affected, while joint operations are being conducted with provincial and federal agencies, according to Dawn. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rains with thundershowers in the northern areas from August 4 to August 7 . Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Islamabad are expected to receive rain during this period, while Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to receive rain from August 5 . Balochistan has forecast rain in northeast and southern parts on August 6 while Sindh is also expected to experience increased humidity with light rain over coastal areas .

Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab, has warned of the sixth phase of monsoon which is expected to start from August 5. He also said that the risk will increase if the Chenab and Jhelum rivers flood due to rain. The PDMA has warned that rains in August will be more than in July, indicating that dozens of districts including Lahore, Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan may be affected. Dawn said there could be structural damage to fragile buildings and mud houses in both the popular tourist areas of Muri and Galliat.
