In Pakistan's Punjab province, police destroyed a 70-year-old mosque belonging to the minority Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Pakistan (JAP) said, "Under the pressure of religious extremists, the police not only destroyed the structure of the 70-year-old mosque, but also desecrated the tombstones of Ahmadis by breaking them." This incident took place on Tuesday in Gujranwala district.

JAP spokesperson Amir Mahmood strongly condemned the action. He said, 'It is the duty of the police to protect the lives of all citizens. They should protect property and religious places. But here the police is determined to destroy it.

spokesperson Mahmood has requested the senior police officers to take the incident seriously and take strict legal action against those who damage the mosque and desecrate the graves of Ahmadiyyas.

Since then, a police officer has said that an order has been received to demolish the structure of the prayer room and graveyard of the Ahmadiyya mosque. He said that this order came because Islamic verses were written on the grave.
