At least 25 people were killed in the fierce airstrikes carried out by Russia in various regions of Ukraine on Tuesday. According to international media, a 23-year-old pregnant woman and 16 prisoners were among the dead. A few hours after the attack, Russia stated that it was committed to the peace process.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused a deliberate attack on a prison in the southern Zaporozhye region. It is said that 16 prisoners were killed and more than 40 were injured in that attack. This is a planned attack, not an accident. It is not possible for Russia not to know that there are civilian prisoners," President Zelensky wrote on social media and strongly opposed the attack. But Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied Zelensky's allegations and claimed that "the Russian army will never target civilians."
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 37 drones and two missiles, of which 32 drones were claimed to have been destroyed. However, President Zelensky said that three people, including Diana, a 23-year-old pregnant woman, were killed in an attack on a hospital in the city of Kamansk in the Dnipro region. 6 people died in separate attacks in Kharkiv region.
These attacks began after US President Donald Trump set a new deadline for Russia to end the war. If Russia refuses to stop the attack within that time frame, the US has warned that it will impose severe economic sanctions on Russia. Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets called the attack on the prison a 'war crime' and said, 'Prisoners do not lose their right to life and safety.' Ukraine is trying to stop the attack as much as possible, although Russian forces are also seen advancing into some new areas.
