Columbia University has agreed to pay the US administration 200 million US dollars, about 27.55 billion Nepalese rupees.
The university is going to pay the amount due to the accusation that it failed to protect the Jewish students studying there.
This contract amount will be given to the federal government over a period of three years. The university has announced this by issuing a statement and President Donald Trump has also confirmed it through social media.
In return, it was agreed to return some of the 400 million US dollars in grants that were withheld by the Trump administration last March. Columbia is the first university targeted by the Trump administration.
The university has been accused of failing to prevent anti-Semitic incidents during protests on the New York campus last year. However, the university had already agreed to some conditions of the White House regarding the grant.
